I'm Tired

I'm just tired. Does anyone else ever feel that way? Where you're just ready for a change of pace? Geez I'm even ready for school to start, at least maybe life will slow down into a predictable routine. I'm all about predictable.

A Question

Just a question: Aren't blogs supposed to be personal sites where someone should be allowed to say and express what they want?

Just in the last week I've heard of two people that have totally been bashed on through the comments on their blogs for just a simple sentence expressing how they feel. They weren't meant to insult or offend, but people blew up at them and were really nasty about it.

I do think that everyone needs to keep common courtesy in mind, but these people that were picked on are some of the nicest people I know and wouldn't hurt a fly!

I'm glad that I made our blog private so I know all of you who are reading (or not reading ;)) and you're all great people who make this a fun and uplifting thing. It's amazing what a kind response will do to make me feel better. So thanks for all of you that are so nice! I've never had to worry about getting a nasty comment from any of you! :)

Chase's Birthday!

I'm a little late posting this, but it's been another crazy week! Chase's birthday was on Wednesday. It was a really fun day, he had a hard time letting me spoil him, but it was still alot of fun!

On Monday his parents came to dinner and we had cake and ice cream with them. Here's Chase giving me his cheese grin. (Sorry about the fuzzy picture)

Here's his long awaited birthday present; a new wireless keyboard and mouse. He was so excited about it he walked around our whole apartment to see how far away he could get from the computer and still have the keyboard work. It works from every single room in our apartment just in case he would ever want to type an email in bed. :P

He was also really excited becuase my parents got him a camel-pak! It will come in really handy for bike rides, hikes, camping and stuff. He tried it out the other night just to make sure that it worked, but I didn't get a picture.

We grilled steak for his birthday dinner Wednesday night and then we went to see Harry Potter. Can we just say we were disapointed? Not at all like the book and not nearly as exciting. Oh well... it was fun to get out, we haven't been to a movie in awhile.

Happy birthday babe! You're amazing and I love you lots. :)

Table Project

When we got married, Chase's best friend, Ben and his family gave us a gorgeous table and chairs that will last us forever. He's getting married here in a month or so so we thought we'd return the favor.

After much looking on KSL, Craigslist, and outlet furniture stores, we came home with a great solid oak table that had two leaves and six chairs!

The only bad part was that it had been well loved and had scratches all over the top shown below.

So we stripped off the old finish...

Sanded it down, went to the paint store twice to match the stain...

Put on the new stain and wiped it off...

Three coats of polyurethane and a layer of finishing wax....and wahlah! Looks like a brand new table!

Ok this is my official first post as the lesser of the two contributors of this blog (i figure if my name is on the header then i have a right to post to right?) I just wanted to let the blogging community know how amazing my wife is and how much i look up to her. She at the moment is working 20 plus hours a week, has an internship at the Student Health Center, takes care of me (which lets be honest is a full time job in itself), she also has just been called as a relief society secretary and she also manages to work on the side with her sewing business. Among all of that she still manages to worry about birthday parties and weddings that we need to help with. And on top of all that she manages just to be one of the most amazing all around people ever. I jsut wanted to let everyone know how amazing she is (even though she would deny it till she is blue in the face) and that i feel i am the luckiest guy on the planet for being married to her. She is one of the most amazing people i have ever met. I love you babe!!!

Bags and Diaper Bags

Here's some pictures of the diaper bags I've been making. I can make them custom order as far as how many pockets/size of pockets you want, strap length, colors, and stuff like that. I can also make special pockets for a bottle. I've also done a few purse-size ones. Thanks Heather for finding the pattern I've been basing these off of! These are just some of the first ones I've done and I'm always looking for better/new ideas and patterns so let me know what you think!

(This one is still missing the buttons on the pockets...)

As far as price... not sure yet as I'm still kind of new at this whole thing!

The 4th!

I love long weekends and ones with holidays in them are even better! Sorry no pictures to document the event, our camera battery was dead. :(

My family has always gone to the Logan Fireworks on the 3rd for as long as I can remember and this year was no exception! We met them up the canyon Thursday night to roast marshmallows and make smores. Chase had to work on Friday though so we didn't get to camp out.

On Friday Chase worked most of the day while I sewed...for NINE hours. I really like to sew, but NOT for that long. I made some diaper bags for a friend of my mother-in-law's. They turned out pretty cute, so if any of you are in the market for a diaper bag I can make one for you! (sorry for the sales pitch...)

That night we met up with Ben and Christie for a quick dinner and then headed to the stadium for the fireworks with my family. They were really good this year! It was crazy though with the way the wind was blowing we got hit with all the "shrapnel" from the explosions.

Saturday morning we headed up to Idaho for the famous IF fireworks. That had to be the most impressive firework show I have ever seen! And thanks to my in-laws for knowing the millionaire of Melaleuca who sponsored the show, we got the fancy dinner pre-show and an awesome spot to watch the fireworks!

Hope everyone had a great weekend!
