Washable

All this artwork happened in the 2 minutes after I checked on her and she walked into the bathroom so proud that she had made herself so "cu!" (cute) I didn't have time to put her in the tub since we were on our way out the door for an appointment. So we stopped by to give Daddy a laugh at work. Good thing she didn't get to the permanent markers, I better move all of them up a drawer!

Room Redo

When we moved in the second bedroom was a pretty light yellow. And it quickly became my sewing/storage/junk disaster of a room. When we found out we were having a boy I thought yellow would be perfect! Chase did not think it was so perfect... light yellow, apparently, is NOT a manly color. Whatever. :) So we compromised and decided to do some redecorating.

This is what we started with. Bad picture, but the room was pretty scary in its own right.

We decided to try our hand at some board and batten. so that got us here... after cleaning out the room of course.

Then we started to paint. Blue has always been my favorite color, so obviously blue would be a good color for a boys room right? But we didn't want it light blue since we didn't want to have to repaint when he was 15 and decided he didn't like the babyish feel of a lighter blue. So we went with a more "mature" gray blue. For the board and batten we had a ton of leftover white from the trim and doors the previous owners left so we just used that.

And I love how it turned out! The darker paint really shows off the molding around the windows and doors. And the white board and batten keep the room from feeling too dark and cramped.

So then of course, we had to personalize it. Lauren was a little confused when her bed was now in a different room but she caught on pretty quick that it wasn't her bed anymore.

 I found a really awesome car picture at Hobby Lobby that would have been great... but not for $50 bucks. So I got some scrapbook paper and markers and made my own. I think it turned out okay.

 Found this one on pinterest and changed it up a little and had it printed. Then my great father-in-law made the frames for both of them.

I actually like leaving the door now that it's a cute baby's room instead of the disaster it was before! Please forgive all the pictures. We were quite proud of ourselves that it turned out how we envisioned it... since we have no prior experience in painting or woodwork. But that's why I didn't do any close-up shots!

Potty Training

Basically, it's not happening. I tried to get her all excited about it. We pulled out her princess potty and bought some big girl undies. But to no avail. She refused to sit on it.

So we put the potty away for awhile. Then she saw it in her closet and got excited so we pulled it out again. And she went! Twice! I was pretty excited....and ever since then, she refuses to sit on it again. As you can see, her baby spends more time on it than she does (don't worry, it was all washed and clean)... bummer. Oh well, I don't want to push it, she does things on her own time table. I was just hoping it would be before baby comes.

Light at the End

 
Another Dr. appointment today. And I am ready to sing praises and do a happy waddle-dance. I am actually dilating and effacing... on my own! With Lauren there was nothing... nada, happening until 41 weeks when I was induced. Dr. thinks he might make his appearance in a week or so which I am just tickled pink about. Yay for no more 28 hour labors and being sick anymore!

There is light at the end of the tunnel!

Booties and Blankets

I finally got around to taking some better close-ups of the booties and blanket/burpcloth sets I've been making. It's been a fun thing to do and they've started to sell better. If anyone's in the market they're in the Mom-to-Mom section at Stork Landing. Or I can mail them if anyone is interested!

Happy

Today while snuggling with Lauren on the couch, she patted my tummy. Then she laid her head ever so gently on it. Her little brother wiggled and kicked against her cheek. She lifted up her head and grinned at me with awe and patted my tummy again.

Doesn't get much better. :)

Health Happenings

It's been an interesting week, to say the least. Last Monday Chase woke up and could hardly get out of bed he was so dizzy. He's been getting lightheaded and dizzy for awhile when he does his workouts, but on Monday I figured it was time to see what was going on since I was worried it could be something with his heart.

The doctor couldn't find anything immediately wrong but ordered a urine test, blood work and and EKG. There ended up being a significant amount of blood in his urine which worried the doctor that it could be something wrong with his kidneys. So long story short, we got the blood and EKG results back and Chase was declared "healthy as a horse." I also read that blood in urine can be caused by strenuous exercise so I guess we'll chalk that up to his insane workouts.

So we're glad that he's healthy, just wish we could find out what's making him dizzy. Our kind neighbors have been watching out for us and took care of our yard this week and came over to use his chiropractic knowledge on Chase to see if he had positional vertigo. He tested negative though so I guess he'll just scale back his workouts so he doesn't pass out.

Friday morning I woke up and could not keep a darn thing down. I went down to Roy for a friend's bridal shower then went to my parent's house for Lauren's nap. I'm glad I went because I couldn't even keep water down. That lasted through Saturday so I was grateful my mom and dad were there to take care of me and play with Lauren. I was finally able to keep a cup of yogurt down so I wasn't lightheaded so I drove home Saturday night to be at church on Sunday.

But then Sunday I couldn't keep anything down again either. I felt so bad asking our Primary President to take over sharing time, but I just couldn't stand up to teach after not eating anything for three days. The presidency has been so nice and great to pick up my slack, I just feel bad that I'm not fulfilling my calling.

Anyway, I don't know why it's been so bad the last few days, I just keep telling myself that I'm only two weeks away from full term. TWO WEEKS. Everyone pray that he will come then and be just fine and healthy please!

Crazy (But Wonderful) Weekend

This last weekend started out busy with a family wedding reception Friday night then, another family sealing, luncheon and reception Saturday night. But then it quickly turned crazy!  Friday afternoon my mom got a call from their Stake President with news that he had been able to change my brother's report date to the MTC...which was five days away.

Thankfully we were all equipped to just stay with my parents another night and help put together a very impromptu farewell on Sunday. My brother gave an incredible talk and it turned out to be a very nice day.

Tuesday night we were able to head down again to be there when he was set-apart as a missionary and celebrate his birthday which happened to be that day.

My parents dropped him off at the MTC yesterday. My "little" brother is one of the most incredible people I know. We will miss him, but know he's where he's supposed to be!

I'm sad we didn't remember to take a picture of all us siblings together before he left... but this one is pretty good too... Brian in his element. :)
