Foreign Objects

Foreign Object = something that is not supposed to be there naturally

Lauren loves foreign objects lately. Mostly of the metal variety. These said metal objects become foreign when she ingests them.

Seriously. I feel like a neglectful parent.

My parents brought her back home Wednesday afternoon, and she hadn't even been home 4 hours before this happened. My CTR ring was sitting on my dresser, didn't even think Lauren could reach it. I noticed her playing with it and didn't think much of it since she kept putting it on her finger. Getting her ready for bed we asked her to give it to us since we didn't want her to have it in bed. Well she put that thing in her mouth and swallowed it.

Now I wasn't so worried about the keychain getting stuck on the way down, but a ring is a lot bigger round, and this one had little points from the shield part of the ring. The Dr. on call recommended we take her into the hospital for an x-ray. Great. Of course this happened right at 8 so the nearby clinic and instacare had just closed.

4 hours later we had an x-ray with a perfect picture of my CTR ring making its way into her small intestine. We also had over 200 pictures on my phone from her taking "pitchus" of everything and everyone while we were there.

Now I am baby-proofing our house again for my foreign object obsessed 2-year old instead of the newborn we brought home the day before. At least now she has a hospital bracelet just like mommy and baby. :)
