Friday

Usually on Sunday Chase and I talk about what is going on in the coming week. This Sunday we looked at this last week and didn't think there was much going on. It turned out to be a busy week though!

Sunday night we went to my Grandma's to celebrate her 50th wedding anniversary. She is a great lady. She's been a widow for more than 40 years, raised 3 kids by herself, and is just one of those neat people.

Monday we woke up to a text saying that our neice was on her way! That evening we went to the hospital to meet her. She's a cutie and we're excited that she's here! We went to dinner with Chase's parents afterwards.

Tuesday one of our cute neighbor girls called and asked if she could come play with Lauren. Lauren loved it! And we're glad she felt comfortable enought to call and ask if she could come.

Tuesday night my visiting teachers came. I really appreciate visiting teachers. I don't get to talk to adults much and it's nice to be able to talk to other mothers once in awhile.

Wednesday Lauren woke up with goopy eyes. Thankfully my sister had some eyedrops left from when her boys had it a little while ago so we were able to get them cleared up before they got too bad.

My brother went throught the temple Wednesday night. It was a neat experience. Our whole family was there together. We all got to sit by each other during the session and were all together in the Celestial room. After we went to the Bluebird for dinner, it's always been my family's restaurant in Logan.

Thursday we went to the aerospace museum with my sisters, mom and aunt. It was fun, they had alot more things to look at than when I was little. Lauren threw an absolute fit complete with kicking and screaming on the floor when I wouldn't let her push her stroller where she wasn't supposed to go. She's so independent and knows exaclty what she wants, and when she doesn't get it, she's started throwing fits. If she's started this early, it makes me nervous for when she's 2 and 3. Maybe she'll get it out of her system early. Hopefully?

I'm grateful for weekends.

Thursday Thoughts

-Haven't been this sick in a long time. Bleh...
-Curtain fabric came today. I was so excited to get them all sewn up today... don't think that's going to happen.
-Lauren is in transition from two naps to one. Seems like it's a difficult thing to do when she's not tired enough to want to go to sleep but still ornery.
-Our living room is almost all decorated, just need those curtains done, pillow for the couch and a table runner. I think it's turned out pretty good.
-Been waiting to take pictures of the new house to show everyone 'till I got pictures and stuff hung where I want them. They're coming soon!
-So that pretty vinyl tree in Lauren's room saw it's last day when Lauren found the tiny little part coming off the wall. I heard 'uh oh" from her room during nap time and heard it peel right off the wall in a crumpled heap. Bummer... I really liked it.
-I'm the new Activity Days leader in our ward! I'm excited about it! It's a good thing my sister does the same thing in her ward and she has really good ideas.
- Didn't realize how fast weeds can grow. Seriously they grew three feet while we were in Arizona. So this last week has consisted of trying to hoe them down and level so we can plant grass in the fall. Man those suckers are stubborn!
- Made a sunburst mirror out of plastic spoons from an idea on Pinterest. It turned out really nifty! But now that it's hung on the wall the cardboard is starting to bend. Not sure how to fix it.
-Finally found some bar stools at DI. Been hitting that place every week hoping to find some! Hoping the enamel I painted them in is finally dry today.
- Think the people here before us really like yellow flowers. Everything is in bloom now and they're all yellow!

Trip

We made it home! It was a really fun trip but we're glad to be home. Just like Jane Austen wrote "There's nothing like being at home for true comfort." (or something like that)

Me and Lauren headed to Idaho on May 24th and flew to Mesa the next morning with Chase's mom. Then we spent a few days in Safford with the Scott side of the family. Lauren had been sick earlier in the week but seemed just fine by the time we needed to leave so I didn't worry about it too much. While in Safford though her fever came back and she got a horrible rash. So thankfully there was a doctor in Nonnie's ward that was so nice to come check on Lauren and make sure she was okay. That made for a fun few days, not. I felt so bad that she was so miserable.

After Safford we headed to Tucson to spend time with the Christensen side of the family and get ready for a wedding! It was alot of fun to catch up with everyone and sit by the pool. I am not a fan of Arizona but I do have to admit that sitting by the pool and eating Eegee's is pretty nice. We're glad to be back in this nice 70 degree weather instead of 112. Lauren did fairly well considering we pulled her all over the place and completely messed up her schedule. Chase and the rest of the family drove and met us in Tucson last Wednesday and it was hard being without him for a whole week. We both missed him alot! Lauren loved Grandma and Grandpa's dog, Max. She would pet him and feed him and kiss his nose.

Church Frustrations

I'm sorry to vent but I'm frustrated. Right now I should be sitting in Relief Society of our new ward. But after Lauren had HUGE meltdown #3 I figured it was time to head home for a nap.

We don't know what to do. She HATES being contained so staying in a space less than the size of her crib for over an hour is nigh unto impossible. She's figured out how to crawl under the benches so we try to keep her sitting on the bench. That doesn't go over too well. She starts screaming so we take her out and hold her and make her sit still for a few minutes instead of just letting her run through the halls. Most of the time that works and she will calm down. These last two weeks she has thrown an absolute fit when we've tried to hold her and make her sit still.

Granted it is nap time for her. But she's usually done pretty well in the past as long as I had enough books for her to look at. I also figured with Chase being able to sit by us now she would be even better, wrong. She's ten times worse.

All of the ideas and suggestions I've heard for teaching reverence and sitting still are for older toddlers... I just don't know what to do with her since she's not quite at that age where she understands punishment but she knows if she screams she gets out.

I'm frustrated that I can't seem to talk to get to know anyone since I'm constantly chasing her or trying to get her to be quiet. And it really won't help matters if I can't even go to the meetings.

Don't get me wrong, she is still the cutest little stinker ever, but I'd like to at least be able to sit through sacrament meeting without a meltdown.

So any suggestions? What do you all do with your kids?

Happy 5 Years!

Our anniversary was actually on Friday but I've been so involved getting this house put together I kind of spaced it until right before Chase got home. And to celebrate we went to Home Depot to get an outlet cover so Lauren won't electrocute herself. How romantic is that? Personally we were thrilled to be buying something for OUR house. Chase kept telling me how bad he felt that we weren't able to do something more extravagant. But really, moving into our new house the week of our 5 year anniversary was the best present ever!

While unpacking we've come across alot of old memorabilia. It's been fun to see all our wedding pictures and see how much we've changed in just 5 years. Makes me wonder what we'll think when we see them in 50 years!
